As a participative management company, Rio Grande doesn’t have a corporate hierarchy. Our organizational structure is very flat. There are three types of associates at Rio Grande:
Directors
The Board of Directors runs Rio Grande as a team. As active participants in the business, each director is accountable for specific functional areas. Together they’re responsible for setting corporate strategy and directing company growth. Directors serve as a resource to all associates and ensure the company is meeting the needs of all stakeholders.
Coaches
Coaches provide mentoring, guidance, inspiration and resources to help associates perform as effective participative managers. Coaches work in a variety of areas including business-team coaching and special resource areas such as safety, quality and training. Each business-team coach is responsible for 2-10 teams, each team consisting of 3-10 associates. Training coaches design curricula, analyze best-practices with teams for continuous improvement, and work with mentors to provide specialized training in functional areas. Special resource coaches provide the expertise we need to conduct high-quality work in the safest, most effective manner possible.
Associates
Everyone at Rio Grande is an associate. As partners and teammates, we all share the responsibilities and joys; the challenges and rewards of leading our company – and serving our customers – well into the future.
