Assembler - Equipment & Electronics
The members of the Assembly team all share common job responsibilities.They may each “specialize” in particular products or processes within the team, but all are cross-trained to do one another’s roles, and they cross-train over time to maintain career interest.

- This team assembles a very diverse range of products, from high-end induction casting equipment to hand tools.
- On this team you will assemble parts according to instructions and drawings, using hands, hand tools or portable powered tools.
- May work at bench as member of assembly group assembling one or two specific parts and passing unit to another worker.
- Load and unload previously setup machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting or light metal-cutting operation on assembly line.
- May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another to reduce fatigue factor.
- Repair units that fail to meet specifications.
- Analyze assembly blueprint and specifications manual, and plan machine building operations.
- Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.
- Lay out hole locations and drills and tap holes on parts for assembly.
- Align components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolt, screw, dowel, weld
or rivet parts together.
- Remove high spots and smooth surfaces, using chisels, scrapers, files and powered hand grinder.
- Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments,
such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
- Test operation of assembly by hand.
- Ability to read drawings and follow instructions.
- Strong basic math skills are essential.
- Electronics background very helpful.
- Manual dexterity and experience using hand and power tools are necessary.
